Brian Howard (born October 19, 1967 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina) was signed by the Dallas Mavericks as a free agent during the 1991-1992 season.
Howard attended North Carolina State playing for the late Coach Jim Valvano. The 6'6 forward was a four-year letterman and helped lead the Wolf Pack to the 1987 ACC Championship.
After college Howard joined the Omaha Racers of the CBA where he won Rookie-of-the-Year honors averaging 21 points and 7 rebounds.
He signed a free agent contract with the Mavericks during the 1991-1992 season and appeared in 27 games posting 4.9 points-per-game and 1.9 rebounds-per-game. Howard saw his action increase the next season as he played in 68 games and averaged 6.5 ppg and 3.1 rpg.
Europe came calling and Howard appeared with a succession of teams overseas including Chalon-Sur-Saone in France where he was named to the French ProA All-Star team in 2000. His career also included stops with teams in Spain, Turkey and Czech Republic. He retired from basketball following the 2004-2005 season
