DALLAS -- The NBA announced tonight that Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki will represent the Western Conference at the 2011 All-Star Game in Los Angeles on February 20. Nowitzki has been named to the All-Star Team 10 consecutive seasons, more than any other in franchise history.
"It is an honor to represent the Mavericks in the All-Star Game this year," Nowitzki said. "I am always thankful and humbled for the opportunity to play in the All-Star Game for Dallas and the best fans in the NBA."
In 39 games, Nowitzki is averaging a team-high 23.2 points to go with 6.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.74 blocks and 34.5 minutes. The 12-year NBA veteran has led Dallas to the Western Conference's third-best record at 33-15, while shooting a career-best 52.5 percent from the field, 41.2 percent from three-point range and 87.7 percent from the foul line.
On February 2, Nowitzki hit a career milestone when he scored his 22,000th career point. Nowitzki became just the 24th player in NBA history to reach the plateau. He currently ranks fourth among active players in career scoring, trailing only Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett.
The 2011 NBA All-Star Game will be televised live on TNT from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 20 at 6:00PM CST.
