Howard Wright (born December 20, 1967 in San Diego, California) was signed by the Dallas Mavericks as a free agent prior to the 1990-1991 season.
Wright attended Stanford where he played from 1986-1989. He participated in the 1986 U.S. Olympic Festival wining a gold medal. Voted All-Pac 10 his junior and senior seasons, he still ranks second all-time for the Cardinal in games played (124), fifth in career field goal percentage (.553) and sixth in scoring (1599 points). He was elected to the Stanford Athletic Hall of Fame.
Despite his college success, Wright's NBA career encompassed only 19 games.
In 1990-91, he appeared in four games with the Atlanta Hawks averaging 1.3 ppg. Following his release, he caught on with Orlando for eight games and the best numbers of his career as he averaged 5.4 ppg.
Released by the Magic, Wright's third stop of the season was with the Mavericks. During his stint in Dallas, he appeared in three games tallying six points, two rebounds on 2-3 shooting from the field.
Wright had one more brief NBA appearance, again with Orlando, in the 1992-1993 season playing four games and averging 2.0 ppg.
