Jamie Watson (born February 23, 1972 in Elm City, North Carolina) was signed by the Dallas Mavericks on March 11, 1997.
Watson, attended the University of South Carolina, where he saw both his point and rebound numbers rise during each of his four seasons. By his junior year, he was averaging 14.7 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game. He was named second-team All-Southeast Conference and duplicated the feat in his senior season when his numbers rose to 18.1 ppg and 7.0 rpg. He finished his career in South Carolina with 1,295 points which still ranks 20th all-time for the Gamecocks.
The Utah Jazz drafted the 6'7 forward in the second round of the 1994 NBA draft. Watson played parts of three seasons for the Jazz with his most productive numbers coming his rookie campaign when he averaged 3.3 ppg over 60 games. Toward the end of his third season, he was waived by Utah.
On March 11, 1997 he signed the first of two consecutive 10-day contracts with the Mavs. Playing in ten games, over that time, Watson averaged 4.5 ppg and 2.9 rpg but was waived on March 31 at the end of the second contract.
He had only one more short stint in the NBA signing with the Miami Heat in January of 1999 and appearing in three games before being released the next month.
Today, Watson is playing in the country of Jordan for Al Riyadi.
