  • 1997 Reached an agreement with Erick Strickland for a new six-year, $13.5 million contract with a player opt-out clause after the fourth year. The contract was not actually signed until 8/18/97 (due to the moratorium while the new salary cap was being computed).
  • 1999 Steve Nash was named as MVP of the Tournament of the Americas. Canada finished second in the tournament and received a berth for the 2000 Olympics.
  • 2002 Unrestricted free agent Rashard Lewis came to Dallas for a recruiting visit. Seattle would re-sign him 9/19/02.
  • 2002 Philadelphia signed Dallas free agent Greg Buckner to a six-year, $18 million contract.
  • 2006 Re-signed Jason Terry to a six-year, $57 million contract.
  • 2006 Promoted Rolando Blackman to Director of Basketball Development. Blackman was no longer an assistant coach.
  • 2012 Signed rookie center Bernard James, who had been the 33rd overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft. Dallas obtained his rights in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
