This Day In Mavericks History

  • 1996 Jim Cleamons named as head coach. Cleamons would be fired 12/4/97. Cleamons would finish with a regular season record of 28-70 (.286) (no playoffs) with Dallas.
  • 1996 Baylor-Tom Landry Center announced as the Mavs new practice facility.
  • 2001 Dirk Nowitzki was named to the All-NBA Third Team. Nowitzki received 56 points (the 124 media panel votes for a first, second, and third team by position with a first team vote worth 5 points (he didn't receive any first team votes), a second team vote worth 3 points, and a third team vote worth 1 point).
  • 2002 Dirk Nowitzki underwent successful surgery on his left ankle to remove 4 bone spurs.
  • 2011 Miami defeated Dallas 92-84 to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven 2011 NBA Finals.
