  • 1981 Trainer Doug Atkinson served as the trainer for the All-Star game.
  • 1984 The NBA named Mark Aguirre as Player of the Month for January. Aguirre averaged 30.5 points as Dallas went 9-5 in January. It was the first time a Mavs player had been named as Player of the Month and only time Aguirre received the honor.
  • 1984 Bernard King (NY) had 50 points, tying the third most for an opponent. It was the second time a Mavs opponent had 50+ points. He shot 20-28 FG, setting the opponent record for most field goals made.
  • 1985 Set the team record low with four turnovers.
  • 1985 Mark Eaton (Uta) had 20 rebounds, the ninth time a Mavs opponent had 20+ rebounds.
  • 1988 John Bagley (NJ) had a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. It was the 14th time a Mavs opponent had a triple-double.
  • 1992 Shot 5-16 (31.3%) FT, setting the team records for fewest free throws made and lowest free throw percentage.
  • 1995 Popeye Jones had 20 rebounds, the 33rd time a Mavs player had 20+ rebounds and the fourth of eight times Jones had 20+ rebounds with Dallas.
  • 1999 Finished the 1998 (lockout season) preseason with a record of 0-2.
  • 2000 Michael Finley was named as All-Star reserve for the All-Star game.
  • 2000 Bought-out Leon Smith's contract. Smith would be formally released three days later. Dallas would pay Smith's contract over a period of 10 years.
  • 2001 Steve Nash left the Miami game after the 1st quarter due to a sore left hamstring. He would miss the next four games due to the injury.
  • 2002 Donnell Harvey suffered a sprained right ankle during practice and would not play again before he was traded 2/21/02.
  • 2005 Activated Marquis Daniels and placed DJ Mbenga on IR with a strained right hamstring. Daniels had missed 19 days (9 games) with a sore left ankle. Mbenga was activated 22 days (nine games) later.
  • 2006 The NBA named Avery Johnson and Flip Saunders (Det) as Coaches of the Month for January. Both teams went 13-2 in January.
  • 2006 The NBA announced that Devin Harris was selected to play for the Sophomore team for the Rookie-Sophomore game for All-Star Friday and that Dallas assistant coach Del Harris will coach the Sophomore team.
  • 2007 Dirk Nowitzki was named as an All-Star reserve by the Western Conference coaches.
  • 2007 Recalled Jose Barea from the NBADL and activated him. Placed Maurice Ager on IL and assigned him to the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBADL. Barea was on IL for 30 days (16 games) (no injury). Ager was activated 14 days (five games) later.
  • 2012 Vince Carter moved past George Gervin and into 34th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list with his first basket in tonight's loss to Oklahoma City
