NOWITZKI NAMED WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DALLAS—Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki was named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from November 17-23. This is the ninth time Nowitzki has garnered the honor. He is the first Maverick to win the award since he claimed it on March 1, 2007.

Nowitzki led the Mavericks to a perfect 3-0 week with wins over Charlotte, Houston and Memphis. He averaged a double-double during that stretch with 27.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game while shooting .466 from the field, .500 from three-point range and .923 from the free throw line. Over that span, Dallas won by an average of 13.0 points per contest.

On the season, Nowitzki ranks fourth in the NBA in scoring average (24.7 ppg), seventh in free throws made (80) and tied for seventh in free throw percentage (.920). He leads the Mavericks in scoring, rebounding (8.4 rpg) and minutes (37.0 mpg).
