DALLAS -- Mavericks center Tyson Chandler was named All-Defensive Second Team, the NBA announced today. It is the first time that Chandler, a 10-year pro, has been named to the All-Defensive team.

"It is an honor to be mentioned with some of the top defenders in this league," Chandler said. "I want to thank everyone who voted for me, but most of all I want to thank my teammates. They are the ones who make me look good and I couldn't do it without them."

Chandler finished the season averaging 10.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 27.8 minutes in 74 games (74 starts). He was acquired by the Mavericks on July 13, 2010 from the Charlotte Bobcats and spent the summer representing Team USA at the FIBA World Championship in Istanbul, Turkey where he brought home the gold medal.

This marks just the third time a Dallas Maverick has earned All-Defensive honors. Former Maverick guard Derek Harper was named second team two times (1986-1987 and 1989-1990.
